Tips and Tricks
Half Moon Bay Airport is a short hop from Hayward and this 10 minute flight can save you an hour in traffic while giving you some of the best views of the wild pacific landscape clashing with one of the biggest urban environments in the world. In VFR conditions the route is very straight forward.
While we suggest taking a smaller plane due to the fuel access larger planes and jets can also land here to enjoy the scenic town located on Moss Beach without fueling up.
Once landed in Half Moon Bay you can berth at transient parking and walk directly off the airport onto Capistrano Road in the parking lot of Mezza Luna, a vibrant Italian restaurant, or a quarter mile down this restaurant and cafe filled street to the water. There are a plethora of restaurants, cafes, parks and even a distillery within walking distance. In less than a mile you can find yourself at the shoreline for fishing off the pier near Barbra’s Fishtrap eatery, or hiking the scenic west shoreline to Mavericks Beach around Pillar Point Air Force Station to Moss’ Cove amongst other nearby parks and trails. The Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, located on the Half Moon Bay Golf Links public golf course, is a short drive from the airport for luxurious accommodations and golfing with a view.
