Tips and Tricks
Planning a weekend getaway or a week-long vacation in Page, Arizona? Page Municipal Airport (PGA) is your gateway to a world of natural wonders. This small but convenient airport offers quick access to some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Southwest. Some of our favorites include:
Antelope Canyon: Just a short drive from the airport, this famous slot canyon offers stunning photo opportunities. These flowing red rocks will make you feel like you’re in another world.
Horseshoe Bend: A quick hike leads to this iconic overlook of the Colorado River. Nearby are the Petroglyphs carved into the ancient rock formations.
Lake Powell: Spend a day boating, kayaking, fishing, or exploring the countless coves of this vast reservoir. If you make your way down the lake, you can find stunning landmarks like the Rainbow Arch Bridge and other fabulous hiking areas.
Glen Canyon Dam: Take a tour to learn about the dam’s history and its role in the region, or view it from your flight on the way in.
If you’re looking for a way to switch up how you fly, helicopter tours are available at the airport.
When flying in, be sure to avoid the Grand Canyon restricted area. Keep an eye on the weather for thunderstorms and be wary of high density altitude effects on performance. Thankfully Page has ample runway but high weight takeoffs during the summer may be beyond a planes ability so plane your fuel load carefully. Don’t forget the enjoy the sightseeing on your flight in! Remember to pack layers. The desert climate can range from very hot days to cool evenings.
Reserve your rental car in advance to explore the area’s scenic routes. The airport offers a few rental options, but availability can be limited. If you’re staying at the Amangiri, coordinate directly with the hotel and they will flight track you making sure to have a driver meet you at the airplane upon your arrival and provide car services throughout your stay.
There are plenty of hotels, bed and breakfasts, vacation rentals and camping sites nearby the airport for easy access to all of these attractions at very reasonable prices.
For a truly luxurious experience, book your stay at the Amangiri. Nestled in a secluded valley just across the Utah border, this exclusive resort offers stunning views, world-class dining, and unparalleled spa services just a 20 minute drive from the airport. It’s the perfect base for exploring the nearby attractions or simply unwinding in serene desert surroundings. This hidden gem is a must-see and popular getaway for the rich and famous. Nested into the desert landscape, this resort boasts gorgeous vistas from every room for star gazing and is perfectly quiet for listening to the night.
Whether you’re in Page for a few days or a full week, this stop is an absolute must in our book. Enjoy your adventure!
